Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)

I believe that ketamine, when used clinically, therapeutically, and consciously, can be a powerful tool in treating depression and anxiety. I believe this not only as a clinician, but also as a patient years ago, when I used this medicine under the direction of a prescribing doctor and a therapist.

My personal training in Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) started in 2010, through two friends who are both psychiatrists specializing in this modality. In April 2018, I completed my training in KAP with Dr. Phil Wolfson at The Center for Transformational Psychotherapy and joined a consultation group for ketamine practitioners. To this day, I am a member of two separate consultation groups.

I have had other trainings and experiences that have helped me along this path, including:

  1. UC Berkeley Program in Psychedelic Facilitation: I graduated from the yearlong Program in Psychedelic Facilitation at the UC Berkeley Center for the Science of Psychedelics Certificate Program in 2024. This intensive program allowed graduates to become Licensed Psilocybin Facilitators in Oregon, although I decided not to pursue that license.

  2. Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy: I often conduct Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy sessions in my office in Lafayette, California. Please note that I am not a prescriber of medications, but I work with several physicians who can evaluate and often prescribe for my clients. To learn more about how I work with clients in this modality, feel free to schedule a free, 20-minute consultation with me.

  3. Music for Ketamine: As both a professional musician and composer, I wrote and recorded a 72-minute soundtrack in 2025 titled Music for Ketamine, a collection of 13 songs and soundscapes created to be a full sonic journey for therapeutic ketamine sessions. It includes various instruments and found-sounds, designed for this special auditory experience. Numerous KAP clinicians utilize this soundtrack while working with this medicine and the album can be found on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, and more.

  4. Conferences: I presented at the Chacruna Psychedelic Culture Conference in April 2026 and have presented at other venues over the years; I have been interviewed on various podcasts and by UC Berkeley to talk about my understanding of how music interacts with psychedelic spaces and how healing may be influenced by these interactions. I have attended various seminars on current psychedelic science for more than a decade, and attended the MAPS conference numerous times since 2016.

  5. Integration Therapy: I frequently do integration therapy with people who come to me after doing some sort of psychedelic work on their own and are trying to understand what their experience may mean for them. While I am deeply engaged in this area of interest, I do not conduct any psychedelic sessions with clients using substances that are illegal: I adhere to all federal and state laws and ethical standards related to psychedelics in my professional work.

  6. Research: In 2016, I actively assisted with a brain-imaging study involving select participants of the Phase II MDMA-assisted psychotherapy study, looking at compassion, anxiety, and major life illnesses. I helped with the design and piloting of compassion tasks, as well as collecting data and helping people diagnosed with anxiety with the MRI scanner. The paper from this study has not yet been published; I will update this section when it is.

  7. Music and the Psychedelic Experience: One of my passionate interests is how music infuses itself into the psychedelic space. As someone who has written music for soundtracks, I believe the intersections between music, psychedelic medicine, therapy, and healing can have profound impacts on people.  To this end, I wrote and recorded the music for the video series by Professor Dr. David Presti at UC Berkeley, titled Psychedelics and the Mind: Deepening Understanding of the Science, History, and Culture of Psychedelic Substances. And, some of my original music was used in the Phase II MDMA-assisted psychotherapy study.
